What Makes Moose Camp Different?

The Staff

We have a dedicated staff from a wide variety of performance backgrounds! From circus to mime, street performance to community events and parties, there is a staff member you can relate to! All of the staff are currently or have previously been professional clowns. This wealth of knowledge helps you find your way in this amazing art form. We want you to be the best clown YOU can be!

The Schedule

We have been fine tuning our schedule for over 25 years. We know how to get the most out of your time with us. From beginner to advanced performer there is something new to learn. The schedule is published months in advance so you can see we are serious! You will also see all the fun we have wedged in between courses, workshops, and special events! We know how to have a good time!

PEP - Personal Education Plan

This session is a 1 on 1, 30 minute pre camp session with Tricia Manuel aka Pricilla Mooseburger the founder of the camp. A link is sent out in the Spring so you can sign up for a time that works for you. You can ask all the questions you want! This is your time! By the end you will have a plan for the course and workshops you will take. You will hit the ground running and not miss a thing!

What is a Course?

Not everyone wants to study the same thing. We have developed a winning combination of Courses in the morning and workshops in the afternoon. Tricia will help you pick the right course for your most important goal. In your course you will study with the same small group of people and instructor with the same interest 2 hours a day. In the afternoon you will have a great selection of workshops in all different kinds of topics. Trust us this really works!

E-Workbook

Our e-workbook is second to none! You get to start learning before camp begins! You will receive this document via email. It is a treasure trove of articles, worksheets and so much more. It is a clown arts education geeks dream come true! Content has been collected over the 25 years of camp. Each year it is edited and more is added. The e-workbook is perfect for book learners and those interested in passing down the art of clowning.

Make it and Take it Prop Shop

Sometimes it just takes a funny prop! We have a wonderful shop for you to play in and explore. Knowledgeable staff is on hand to teach you how to glue this to that and then some! Make a crazy kazoo horn for our band; make something to add to your performance. Learn how it is done. It is easy when you have the right tools and help.

The All Star Clown Show

At the end of camp we put on a free clown show for the public. Rehearsal is half the fun! We believe you learn by doing and by example. Each day you will meet with your coach and the others in the gag you are in. Your coach will help you be ready to put on the best performance show night! Back drops, sound effects, script, big props, specialty costumes... everything is provided for you. Our Alumni say the All Star Clown Show is the highlight of their week. Check out our testimonials. From beginner to seasoned professional we have the routine and tools to help you succeed!

Who Can Come to Camp?

Adults like you! Camp is for adults 17 and older. We have programs for folks who have NEVER put make-up on before. Long time clowns come to brush up on new skills and get their batteries recharged.

Cabins?

Our camp is held at a camp designed for disabled adults. That means everything is on one level. If you sign up early enough you can get a private room. There are two big bathrooms in each cabin to share. Our campers find they make lasting friendships with their cabin mates and often come back year after year to be together! You will love the Minnesota woods, keep your eyes open you might see a bald eagle soaring by!

We Make it Easy!

We have an easy monthly payment plan. Once you register and make your deposit, your balance is divided out into monthly payments through May 1st. You will be all paid by May and ready to plan your travel! If you have trouble flying into Minnesota by noon on camp day, you can stay at a designated hotel by the airport (we call it the Early Bird Hotel). Our Moose Camp School Bus will pick everyone up from the airport, or the hotel, and bring you to camp. Details will be provided on travel. You can sign up after May with payment in full. But don’t wait! We sell out!

Scholarships Available

Every year we give away a number of scholarships to assist clowns in their trip to the best clown arts education there is. Check our Ralph Pounder Memorial Scholarship page here! https://www.mooseburger.com/copy-of-moosburger-clown-arts-camp
